Mining companies are destroying entire mountains in order to get at the coal inside them. Quickly and efficiently, the oldest mountain range in the world is being systematically obliterated. We sent Meredith and VBS correspondent Derrick Beckles to the hills and hollers of West Virginia to show us what the end of the world looks like.

Gaahl really believes in this whole ideology behind what he's doing—he's not just some rockstar fronting a band. The thing with Black Metal is, in Norway, everybody is exactly the same. There's nothing to rebel against, because everybody's really well off. It's one of the richest countries in Europe. There is no lower class, it's like middle-class white kids everywhere—no one has anything to complain about. And he's this sort of eccentric figure amidst this sea of contentment and sameness. The way I see it is, in America you have guys like 50 Cent who are supposed to be the "villain." Kids like him cause they're parents hate him, and that's basically what Gaahl is. For those of you who don't know, Henry sang with SOA, Black Flag, and Rollins Band, has published countless books, re-released a trove of hard to find, amazing records, acted in movies by directors ranging from Richard Kern to Michael Mann, currently hosts his own talk show, and is also a radio disc jockey. We had a great, aimless rambling chat and I mentioned the idea of producing an aimless rambling chat show and, magically, he said he'd be happy to appear on it. So that's how Henry Rollins ended up on Soft Focus. Those Masons are really something else, huh?
